The School strives to train students in a range of foreign languages. It aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful careers and self-realisation. Its teachers prepare students to pursue studies abroad and work in multinational companies. Undergraduates have a golden opportunity not only to improve their competencies in general English, but also to practise business English and English for academic or specific purposes.
The School’s teachers follow a competency-based learning approach. They focus on providing constructive feedback and helping students improve their level of ability. Various methods of differentiated learning are used, which create comfortable conditions for language acquisition, developing essential skills and achieving both general and individual goals in students’ chosen professional spheres.
Members of the School of Foreign Languages participate in numerous international conferences and projects, and contribute to high-level interdisciplinary research collaborations. Most of them are members of thesis committees and the editorial boards of scientific journals. Articles written by faculty members have been published in various collections of research papers both in Russia and abroad.
The School’s academic staff are actively engaged in various research activities. Their research interests lie primarily in linguistics, language teaching and methodology, translation and cross-cultural communication studies, history, culture and literature.
